Steven Boyd-
December 6, 1958 – July 25, 2007

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved member of our dance family. Steven touched the lives of many students. He was an amazing instructor and choreographer who’s talents were only surpassed by his kindness and devotion to his students.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Steven’s family.

Steven Boyd was a native of Springfield, Mass. where he came from a family of 15. Through his mentor Frank Hatchett of Broadway Dance Center in New York, Steven worked his way up to become a nationally recognized teacher, choreographer, and dancer in his own right. Among the many organizations he has worked with are Dance Olympus and Dance Makers, Inc. In 2003, he celebrated his 25th year with Dance Olympus. Steven was honored in 1996 by being one of 18 choreographers selected to participate in the Jazz Dance World Congress held at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Steven was also known for his civic work such as The Wiz on Durham Elementary School as a Neighborhood Arts Project through the Cultural Arts Council of Houston and Harris County. Steven also had his own performing company; Steven Boyd Dance Ensemble. He was a member of the faculty of Houston Metropolitan Dance Center, Becky’s Academy of Dance, and Dance Expressions as well as a teacher and choreographer at many other area schools for both performances and competitions.
