How many DVDs can I check out at once?
That depends on your plan. We have 1, 2 or 3 out-at-a-time packages, including unlimited monthly rentals. If you sign up for the 3-DVD-at-a-time package, you can have up to three DVDs in your possession at once. Mulitple DVD packages allow you to have a DVD in transit while you still have at least one to watch!
Let's say for example, that you sign up for the three-DVD plan. If you return one DVD to us, we'll send out one movie from your KineticFlix DVD Request List (the first available title starting at the top of your list). If you send back two DVDs, then we'll send you the next two available DVDs on your Request List, and so forth.
You can always keep a DVD for as long as you like without any late fees, but if you watch a DVD and return it immediately, we'll ship out your next selection as soon as we recieve the one you return, making it possible for you to view many DVDs during a single month, all for the same price!
How do I cancel my membership?
You can cancel your membership at anytime by visiting the Contact Us page and asking us to cancel your membership. When you return your current selection of DVDs, your account will be cancelled.
How much does it cost?
That depends on your plan. We offer monthly membership rates as follows:
You never have to pay postage or handling fees, and there are no late fees. You can cancel your membership at any time.
- one-DVD-at-a-time for $12.99
- two-DVDs-at-a-time for $17.99
- three-DVDs-at-a-time for $20.99
How long can I keep a DVD?
You can keep a DVD for as long as you want without late fees, or any other penalties as long as you are a member!
Do you sell DVDs?
We offer certain new and used DVDs for sale. Those for sale have both a RENT and a BUY button next to the description.
Are all DVDs in stock at all times?
We have multiple copies of most of our titles. However, when a title is extremely popular, it may be at the top of the DVD Request List for many of our subscribers. We will purchase as many of these titles as we can to meet the demand, but we cannot guarantee the exact date that you will receive any particular DVD.
There are some DVDs that I'd like to see, but they're not available on your site.
We actively solicit your suggestions for titles that we can add to our library and offer to our members. On each of the pages of our site, there's a box that's specifically for you to "Request a Product". If you don't remember the exact title or performer, give us as much information as you can, including the place where you saw the item for sale, if possible. If you want, you can add your email address so that we can contact you, but that is not required. Or you can ask us to add additional titles in any category , or even a new one! We'll get right to work trying to find the items you request.
What day of the month will I get billed?
Your flat monthly membership fee is automatically billed on the monthly anniversary of your first charge. For example, if your first charge was on the 17th of the month, your next charge is on the 17th of the following month.
Should I wait until the first of the month to sign up? If I sign up mid-month, will the first charge be prorated?
There is no need to wait. Your flat monthly membership fee is automatically billed on the monthly anniversary of your first charge. For example, if your first charge was on the 17th of the month, your next charge is on the 17th of the following month.
Can I pay with a check or be billed in the mail?
No. We require a valid credit card card for every KineticFlix DVD membership package, including all promotions. This is to verify account information, secure orders and to prevent fraud.
Are there any places you won't ship to?
At this time, we only ship rental DVDs within the United States.
Shipping to other countires, including Canada, requires full working knowledge of a host of customs and legal issues. If we have a tremendous demand for our services in other countries, we might use that to justify the expense and effort of the research and work involved.
We also do not ship to hotels or other transitory locations, unless that is the residence from which your credit card was issued.
Are your DVDs sent by first class mail?
All our DVDs are sent by first class mail. If you're returning our DVDs at your local post office and you're using our return mailers, you may put them in the metered mail slot, if available. Or just send them back the same way you send all your other first class mail.
How long will it take to get my DVDs?
When you have an open rental slot, we make every effort to ship your DVD as soon as inventory is available. DVDs usually arrive within 2 to 4 days, but occasionaly some DVDs may take longer than 4 days to arrive because of postal delays.
Orders received on Sundays and holidays are processed the following business day.
How do I report a shipping problem or a DVD that won't play?
If you have any shipping problems, such as delayed arrival of your rentals, please email us at info@KineticFlix.com.
DVDs sometimes become damaged during shipping or will skip if dust or dirt have accumulated on their surface. Although we inspect each DVD on its return to the mailing center, you may find on occasion that a DVD will skip or freeze.
If your DVD is skipping, try taking a soft cloth and wiping gently from the center outwards (never in a direction going around the disc).
To help us assure that the highest quality of product is available to you and our other subscribers, please report defective DVDs to us either by email or phone.
Please note that if a pattern of loss develops with an invidual member, we will investigate. In such a case, your account will be suspended pending a full inspection by postal authorities and possibly the fraud divisions of affected credit card companies. All prosecution laws apply. Theft of our DVDs will not be tolerated, even if you try blaming it on the postal service.
I lost the protective sleeve in which the DVD arrived.
If you lose the protective case in which the DVD arrived, please contact us at info@KineticFlix.com and we'll let you know what to do.
I lost the prepaid return envelope used for returning the DVD.
If you misplaced one of our prepaid return mailers, place the DVD in an envelope, affix first class postage and mail the DVD to:
117 Apple House LN
Missoula, MT 59802
What if I lose a DVD?
You may report your DVD as lost by sending email to info@KineticFlix.com. We will bill you for the price of the DVD plus a standard restocking fee. When you pay the bill, it will free up a slot on your DVD Request List and we can send you the next DVD on your list. If you find the "lost" DVD after that, it belongs to you.
Remember there is no due date for any of our rental DVDs, and if you are on a multiple-DVD subscription plan, you can continue receiving DVDs from the top of your DVD Request List as you return viewed DVDs to us. This may allow you the extra time you need to locate the misplaced DVD.
Can you tell me the tracking number for my order?
Since we ship every rental DVD by First Class mail, there is no tracking number available.
My DVD Request List
What is 'My DVD Request List/Queue'?
'My DVD Request List' - sometimes called your 'Queue' - is the list of DVDs you've selected to rent. You can update or edit your Request List anytime. We'll send you the first available DVDs from your Request List. When you're finished watching one of the DVDs you have out, send it back so we can ship the next available title from your Request List. To place a title on your list, browse the KineticFlix.com site and click the "Rent Me" button next to any DVD. This title will be added to your Request List.
To adjust the priority of titles, change the number in the Priority column and then click Update Request List. It's also easy to change the priority of more than one DVD at a time. Simply change the priority of as many movies as you want and then click "Update Request List" -- the site will make all the necessary changes. To remove DVDs from your Request List, check the" Remove" box next to any DVD on your list.
Occasionally, I receive the second or third disc in my DVD Request List before the first. Why does this happen?
When you return a DVD and have an open slot in your Requst List, we make every effort to ship your first choice. To help you get the most out of your membership, if a title in a higher slot is out of stock, we'll look at the next slot and check to see if that title is in stock and send it instead. This way, you will always have great DVDs on hand!
We do monitor all these occurences so that we can adapt and change our inventory purchases on a daily basis, to better serve you. If there is a new, very popular title, be assured that we will be purchasing as many copies as we can to make them available to as many members as possible.
I sent back a DVD but never got the next one in My DVD Request List.
Once a title you return has been checked back into our inventory, you'll receive an email confirmation of its return. We'll then ship the next available title from your Request List. You can always check the My Account page on the site to see whether we have received the DVD you've returned. If seven to ten days pass without your receipt of a confirmation email from us, please use the Contact Us page to report it as 'already returned'.
What happens with the customer reviews I write?
We invite your reviews of our DVDs. We may edit your review. We may post your review online or use it in other ways. Your first name is attached to the review and there is no other way in which you will be identified.
What happens with emails or other mail I send to you?
We will try our best to meet your highest service expectations and if you have suggestions or comments, we may send a personal reply. We will never share your email address with anyone. We often like to quote you, especially when you say glowing things about us, and when this happens, we take your first name and initial of your last name and attach that to the quote. Such a quote could be used online or in printed material we publish. If you would prefer not to be quoted in such a way, please make that request clear at the beginning of any message or letter you send to us.
Can I copy the video while I'm renting it?
No. And we say that emphatically. The copyright for reproduction in any manner remains with the copyright holder.
What if I want to use the DVD for viewing in my classroom?
In general, that is allowed by an educational exemption in the US Copyright law. In general, any public showing of the DVD would need to be licensed by the copyright owner. KineticFlix is allowed to rent the DVDs but has no rights to license a public showing of any of the copies we own and rent to you. If your educational purpose conforms to the following three conditions, please rent your selected DVDs from us and show them in that setting without worry:
If you would like to read all about if for yourself, use this link: http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap1.html. Section 106 gives the definition of a "public" performance, and section 110(2) gives the exemption for educational purposes.
- if you're using it in the instructional activities of a government or a non-profit school,
- if the performance is directly related to the subject matter being taught, and
- if the performance is generally limited to the enrolled students of the class.
