"Level 4: Intermediate Centerwork on Turns" comes up in the "Intermediate" level search at FinisJhung.com. Pirouette Class 1 comes up in the "Advanced Beginner" level search at FinisJhung.com. However, in my opinion it would be much better to do "Level 4: Intermediate Centerwork on Turns" first. Indeed, I think a beginner could practice these Level 4 exercises at least through Exercise 9 (or to the end if it didn't become too difficult), then switch to Pirouette Class 1, continuing there through at least Exercise 4 or 5 or more. In "Level 4: Intermediate Centerwork on Turns", Exercise 1 practices soutenu half turns. Exercise 2 practices soutenu full turns. Exercises 3 through 7 practice all sorts of partial and full turns including promenades and plie turns. Various elements of a pirouette are done as ballet steps in their own right. When you get to Exercise 8 (out of 13) you finally put it all together and do a full pirouette en dehors and in Exercise 9 you do a full pirouette en dedans. Although the combinations 10 through 13 slowly increase in speed and difficulty they incorporate only single pirouettes and turns, none of which are on pointe. The final combinations are a challenge but doable for an Advanced Beginner like me using rewind. As for learning to spot, if you have practiced with other Finis Jhung videos you know that from the very beginning he stresses focus in his exercises. For example, when practicing balance in releve at the barre you also look right, left, right left, so that you can turn your head and focus independent of the balance. In the center you are focusing on the audience, then to stage right or left along with a movement in that direction, then back to the audience again. When you progress to the point that you turn to the back of the stage briefly, upon coming around Mr. Jhung reminds you to focus on the audience again promptly to keep them connected with you. Therefore, when you get to full pirouettes in this video it is easy to leave your head behind for a bit then turn it to focus on the audience again; it feels quite natural.
