Michele has gained a wealth of information from decades of teaching and training. She has combined her knowledge for a complete warm-up that is based on modern dance, ballet, jazz and physical therapy principals.

This Complete program will make your body feel completely great. For the advanced students demonstrating the class it was a warm-up. For me it was a workout! It has it all: isolations, contract, release, drop, rebound, lyrical center technique, stretch, tone, balance, port de bras, and on and on. The dancers practice both parallel and turned out techniques. And everything is done barefoot, with style, to relaxed, upbeat, jazzy rhythms. The exercises move quickly enough that you will get your heart going, too. Ms. Assaf, who talks you through the exercises instructing on proper execution, from time to time also gives a correction or mentions doing a modification.
Although my body was not able to perform a lot of the moves and stretches to anywhere near the same extremes as the advanced dancers in the class, the exercises were easy for me to modify. Note: the class performed floor exercises without a mat; however if your knees are like mine you want to keep one handy.
I am guessing that an exerciser who has never had dance training of any sort may be lost and frustrated with this video. A do-along student does need to already understand basic dance terms and how to do them correctly to get full advantage. For example the section which you could call a "center barre" (i.e. barre exercises with no barre) incorporates plies, tendus, degages, rond de jambe and soutenu turns. If you happen to know these basic ballet exercises but have never done them in the center, lyrical-jazz or modern-dance style, you are in for a treat. And a challenge to your balance. Looking for jazz dance instruction videos there are tons of combinations but fewer great classes like this one where you are working on strengthening the basics.
This is truly a dancer's workout. I am far from being a dancer but it simply has that component which is missing for me in so many workout videos.

A great warm up for any dance class, it can be easily adjusted to fit any age or level of class. I would recommend this to any dancer or anyone that wants to train strong, flexible dancers!
